Creating a well orchestrated and proactive change environment requires systems to be put in place. Think of it as laying the tracks for a train to continually run on it. For the past 30 years I have been helping organizations “lay the tracks” for well orchestrated change.

System 1 – Identify Potential Change

Too often it seems like projects spark out of thin air, or it is unclear how they link to the big picture. When these things happen anxiety and rogue projects often follow. 

Wouldn’t it be nice if the organization could tell you when a change was needed?

That is what the identify potential system is all about… the lessons within this section will walk you through the steps. 

The first step is to understand what is important to the senior executives, the one accountable and liable for the organization. Once you understand exactly what that is you will learn how to look at the organization through that lens, and understand how to identify potential risks and areas where value could be added. With the end goal of having a dashboard tell you when something is not healthy and in need of potential change.

Prioritize

System 2 – Prioritize

There are a million different ways to achieve an objective, and the path taken will dictate the end result. Understanding the senior executive’s, the ones accountable and liable for the organization priorities as well as their appetite for change is crucial to achieving the correct path.

Wouldn’t it be nice to give the senior executives a list of potential change items and have them prioritize it from 1 to 10?

That is what the prioritize system is all about… the lesson within this course will walk you through the steps.

The first step is to create a list, a list that is not so overwhelming that it is impossible to prioritize and then use that list to inform the senior executives. You will understand how to present enough information to the senior executives so that they can make informed decisions and prioritize the list.

Projects can be run external or internal but both have a similar goal and that is success. Success to me means not only coming in on time and budget but also meeting all project stakeholder business goals, objectives and expectations. How do you ensure project success and more importantly how do you ensure all stakeholders get what they signed up for?

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to hand the project manager exactly what is needed to ensure success and how they could measure to be sure?

This is what the Ensure Project Success system is all about… the lessons within this section will walk you through the steps. You will learn how to document project success for the project manager and how to create an environment to ensure project success.

System 5 – Realize the Benefits

Every project is created for a reason, either to address a potential risk, add value to an area, or meet a new regulation. It is so important to not only ensure success but to ensure you are realizing the full potential of that change in production.

This is what the Realize the Benefit system is all about… the lessons within this section will walk you through the steps. You will learn how to set up the foundation to begin monitoring and measuring your organization. You will learn how to define what a healthy range is so that when “something” becomes sick you will be alerted. Concrete numbers will be used to ensure the change is measuring up and that all assumptions were correct.
